Abstract
The study explores the ecological consciousness of women's groups in iloilo namely, SAMAKANA-Nagkakaisa, KKK-Amihan, AWIT, SAMAKA-Kababaihan, the UPV Women's Desk, Womanhealth-Iloilo, Babaye, Inc., and the KKP-South Fundidor with the use of the Focus Group Discussion as a research method. The ecological consciousness of these women's groups, the study found, consists of their knowledge about the interconnectedness of their concerns for land/soil/space, flora and fauna, and water, and the issue of women's health, together with the women's understanding of the relationship of these concerns with the women's understanding of the relationship of these concerns for land/soil/space, flora and fauna, and water, and the issue of women's health, together with the women's understanding of the relationship of these concerns with the social structures and issues in society which the groups address through their advocacies and activities. Moreover, these groups are adjudged to be experiential ecofeminists-not from the eyes of Western ecofeminists-but rather, through the women's felt connection with nature which emerged from local Third World reality. The study concludes by submitting that ecofeminism should be metaphorically viewed as a garden where varying colors of women's groups' experiences are abloom
